On Sunday, October 9, we hosted a dinner to raise funds for the Tres Cruses House project (raising $15,000 to build a new parsonage for the Foursquare Church in Tres Cruses, Philippines). Thanks to everyone who helped and/or contributed to this special project!

Bob Roberts is With the Lord!

I have just learned that our dear friend and brother, Bob Roberts, passed quietly into the presence of the Lord about an hour ago. I believe that his wife of 49 years, Marlene, and his oldest daughter, Roberta, were at his side. One of his wishes was that “Matthew, Mark, Luke and John” would come and receive him into glory. That apparently is what an old Sunday School teacher of his said happened to her as she was dying, so it is what Bob wanted too! I don’t know whether or not he got his wish, but I do know that he is now in the presence of his Savior!

We shall deeply miss Bob. For years he was the first face that people met when they came to Family Life Church. I know you will agree when I say that no one will ever take his place in our church. May we all have the love for Jesus that Bob did and an appreciation for forgiveness like Bob did.

As I learn details of when and where funeral services will be, I will let you know.

Nanay Busing with the Lord

On December 31, 2011, our dear sister, Nanay Busing, went home to be with the Lord, in San Diego, California. She was the mother of Pastor Herman, Annie, Nilo, Satur and Zaldy Ignaco (plus 6 others who live elsewhere). Following stomach surgery for cancer, one month ago, she was recovering at the home of her daughter, Luz, when she died peacefully, in her sleep. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, in Tres Cruses, Philippines.

Whenever Nanay was with us, you would see Herman leaning over and whispering in her ear (translating the sermon into Tagalog for his mother). By the Holy Spirit’s wooing of her heart, and the testimony of her children, Nanay came to trust Jesus Christ as her own Lord and Savior. Now, though she will be sorely missed by many, we are grateful that her sufferings are over and that she now sees by sight what she had previously held onto by faith. We shall see her again soon!

Family Resource Center Speaker

On November 13, 2011, we had a very special speaker speak to our congregation from the Family Resource Center of Zion. Last year, this young woman found herself pregnant, in desperate need of help and guidance and seeking an abortion. Through the counseling and prayers of the center’s director, Brenda Benegas, this woman not only decided to keep her child but also met Jesus Christ and began a relationship with Him. This is the kind of story that gets repeated over and over at FRCZ and why Family Life Church works so hard to support this ministry. Haiti Missions Trip

A Missions Trip to Haiti just for Seniors (age 55 +) is being planned by Foursquare Missions, January 19 – 28, 2011. There will be relief work done, but it will not be extremely labor intensive. Flying into Port au Prince, they will travel to Jacmel, Haiti, where there is an orphanage (approved as an FMI Haiti Relief project). Days will be spent building relationships with the 32 orphans and conducting Vacation Bible Schools and other outreach events.

We Have A Great Church!

Hi Everyone!

All I could exclaim yesterday during the parade was “We have a great church!” The parade was so successful and there were so many evidences of God’s grace, including the clear weather! When you think about it, the whole effort was such a fantastic example of the Body of Christ working together. There were SO MANY people involved in SO MANY different ways. It was not just a certain handful, or a few key people. It was the entire church working together!

I believe the Name and Person of Jesus Christ was lifted high above the city of Waukegan and in the county seat of Lake. As we moved forward in the parade form beginning to end, let’s continue to move forward together in the work that God has called us to!

MW Youth Space Construction

On May 29, 2010, the Family Life Church council unanimously approved the funding and construction for a new (existing) space for the Most Wanted Youth Group. Located in the lower level of the Washington Street facility, this area (which is almost as large as the previous square footage of the church sanctuary on Chestnut Street) will be completely gutted of existing materials and a new space built.

Highlights of the new space include:

-16′ Coffee bar with sink, appliances
-Full size Pool Table
-Performance stage with sound system and stage lighting
-Seating and bistro-type tables for gatherings and meetings
-New electrical panel/system to provide ample power for space
-Capability for space to be used as sanctuary overflow area or meeting room via video/audio feed

The construction officially began with the removal of the wall that was located in the center of the room. This essentially created one large room out of two existing rooms. The next steps will be removing the existing tile flooring and replacing with brand new tile, and building the stage.

Philippines Updates

Did you know that Pastor George and Pastor Herman (and their wives) are currently in the Philippines? From April 19 – May 1, both couples are over there, ministering to the church we planted in Tres Cruses, Cavite.

On Monday, April 20, Pastor George and Beth were greeted by a special celebration at the church’s VBS program.

On Saturday, April 24, Lady Beth will be speaking at the graduation ceremony for the VBS Program.

On Sunday, April 25, Pastor George will be speaking at the 84th Anniversary of the Cavite City Foursquare Church

On Monday, April 26, Pastor George will be speaking at a large pastor’s conference in Tres Cruses.
